Shifting Your Mindset, recipient of the Best Health and Well-being Project 2023 award and Best Green Initiative 2023 award.

The Nottingham Housing Heroes Awards, held in the city’s Council House, honoured community heroes from all throughout Nottingham.

The Nottingham City Homes-hosted awards, formerly known as the Tenant and Leaseholder Awards, honour individuals and groups who make a significant difference in their communities.

Shifting your Mindset, a BAME Dads’ programme in Bilborough, won both the Best Health and Wellbeing Project and the Best Green Initiative awards this year. Shifting Your Mindset is a group of dads who work together to help individuals and the local community improve their wellbeing, reduce isolation, and foster positive connections. The group is very focused on creating a welcoming environment for men to come together, talk about how they’re feeling, and share their thoughts and ideas to help each other become better people and fathers to their children. It offers male-focused programmes with tailored support, services, and courses that help to improve the wellbeing, confidence, and lives of those who attend.

Mutsa Makaka, the founder of Shfting Your Mindset, felt shocked after winning the awards. “We never anticipated winning, we felt humble that we were nominated. This is our extra boost, our extra energiser that made us feel like what we are doing is actually worth it.”

“All glory and praises to the almighTy for all the inspiration, success and  opportunities that come our way.”
