The people of Burton, like many others, are feeling a pinch of the rising cost of living.

The financial situation is making it harder for people to pay their bills, as well as paying for household essentials, such as food.

It’s not just affecting adults. Reduction in wellbeing, increased anxiety and stress is worrying the younger ones too.

Ellie Hopkin, local school girl, opens up about her time as a student and feeling the pressure of seeing her parents struggle.


The current situation is impacting our mental health. In a recent study done by the charity ‘National Mind’ they revealed that a fifth of UK adults are seeing their support network less, due to the cost of living.

Burton and District Mind are building trusted relationships with other organisations such as ‘Community Together CIC’ in Tamworth, and Burntwood ‘Be a Friend and Curbourough Community Centre’ closer to Lichfield.

Many of those struggling are turning to food-banks in this time of need.
