Victor Olarerin, Hoods' top scorer against Cavaliers

Nottingham Hoods (15-6) defeated the Thames Valley Cavaliers (16-6), 84-99, on the road on Sunday 6 March.

The result on the second day of a back-to-back, following a loss over the Kestrels in Southampton, resulted in the Hoods going up a place to number four in the regular season of the National Basketball League while their opponent went down to number two.

The Cavaliers led both the first (21-15) and the second (49-41) quarter of the game. After a successful three-point jump shot in the last 10 seconds of the third quarter by Victor Olarerin, Hoods finished the quarter one point ahead of the Cavaliers (71-72). Andrew Vickers tallied 14 points in the last 10 minutes of the game, while Victor Olarerin added 11 points in the same quarter for the win.

The Hoods finished with shooting totals of 41-for-82 (50%) from the field, 11-for-29 (37.9%) from the three-point-range, and six-for-seven (85.7%) from the free-throw line. The hosts from West London shot 34-for-57 (59.7%) overall, five-for-15 (33.3%) from three point distance, and 11-for-18 (61.1%) from the foul line.

Hakeem Sylla led the Cavaliers in scoring with 20 points (10-13 fg) on top of 12 rebounds and four assists in 34 minutes. Jarrett Hart added 15 points (6-10 fg, 0-2 3fg, 3-3 ft) and seven assists in 21 minutes.

Hoods’ top scorer of the game, Victor Olarerin, has ranked third for the best performance in the previous week in the first division of England’s National Basketball League.
