Nottingham City Centre NatWest Building

Four major bank buildings in the East Midlands are set to permanently close as a result of the coronavirus pandemic and because bank buildings were mostly not used.

NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland will be closing 32 banks across the UK.

NatWest’s closures include banks at Nottingham city, Bulwell and Hucknall. Nottingham city’s bank in the the Victoria Centre will permanently close.

Victoria Centre’s NatWest bank will close July 6th 2022 and the rest will be to follow as a statement by NatWest claims that they will close in the next 12 months.

NatWest have released statements for each individual bank which will be coming to a close. Victoria Centre’s NatWest’s bank saw a 30% decrease in transactions inside the bank and saw a 19% increase in online banking usage across 2018 to 2020.

Royal Bank of Scotland will be closing its Leicester Market Street bank as seven of their buildings will be closing across England and Wales.

Online banking will be heavily used for the bank’s uses just as it was during the pandemic. However, vulnerable people will be able to use cash postal delivery services.
