Nottingham Forest head coach Steve Cooper has been praised for “the belief” he has instilled since taking over at the City Ground.

Forest have enjoyed a sensational run of form after Steve Cooper took over the top job. When the Welshman took charge of the Reds, Forest were rock bottom of the league with one point after seven games.

Since the ex-Swansea boss’s arrival, Forest have climbed the league and now sit seventh, just two points off the play-off places.

The squad have excelled, with the likes of Joe Worrall, James Garner and Brennan Johnson standing out. Garner, who is on loan from Manchester United, has been a revelation in midfield. His set pieces have caused all sorts of issues for defenders, none more so than Leicester City who the Reds demolished 4-1 in the FA Cup fourth round.

Likewise academy product Brennan Johnson has been outstanding, being ever present in the team. Like Garner he was excellent in the win against Leicester, scoring and being named player of the round ahead of England captain Harry Kane.

Matthew Davies, who hosts Nottinghamshire Live’s Garibaldi Red podcast reiterated how the belief Steve Cooper has given the Forest players has helped turn their fortunes around. Davies described how when Cooper arrived the squad were at “rock bottom”.

The confidence is clear to see, having only lost one of their last six league games, and making the fifth round of the FA Cup where they will face fellow championship side Huddersfield.

With 16 games remaining, Forest will hope to continue their fine form and make their way into the all-important playoffs.
