There are currently 595 families in Nottingham that are homeless. A figure that is rising alongside the figure of empty houses in the city.

Meet Craig, he’s 47 and been on and off the streets since he was 14. Craig has travelled across the country from London to Leicester to find a suitable place to live but currently resides at the Nottinghamshire YMCA to stay close to his children.

“People think that all homeless people want is money for food or drugs but it is a lonely life living on the streets and sometimes we just want someone to talk to.” – Craig, homeless man living in temporary accommodation

The housing crisis in Nottingham is apparent yet Nottingham City Council, local housing charities and homeless people themselves want this to change. However, due to government cuts these figures are struggling to decrease.
