A hate incident has been reported in this instance and officers continue to investigate.

Police have launched a hate-crime investigation after a personal trainer received racial abuse over fitness classes aimed at Muslim women.

Bianca Jade runs the sessions at Beeston Youth and Community Centre, which are promoted as a chance to exercise “without worrying about being self conscious.”

The advertisement poster reads “Muslim Women Only Classes”. But this has prompted a backlash of comments across Facebook and Instagram with Bianca receiving abuse.

She has even had text messages sent to her mobile.

She has been accused of being racist herself, by exclusing non-muslim women. But Bianca insists all women are welcome to attend.

“I was just aiming at Muslim Women just because they cant do certain things in front of men”.

Bianca has also had her car tyres slashed but it is unclear if this was in connection with the comments made online.

Nottingham Muslim Women’s Network feel there is still an ongoing issue within Nottingham around racial abuse in the community.

Zainab Asgar, coordinator for the network, says some women do “feel uncomfortable in some areas of Nottingham”

The Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: “The force is committed to tackling hate incidents and take reports of them very seriously.

“Whether it be on social media or in person, it is unacceptable to make abusive and derogatory comments relating to a persons race, gender or religious beliefs.”

They also said that if anyone wants to report a hate crime such as this they can contact the police on 101 or if they feel uncomfortable they can make a report online.
