Jodie Chesney, 17, was killed in Romford last Friday.

A Leicester man is today still being interviewed about the stabbing of 17-year old Jodie Chesney.

The 20-year-old was arrested in Leicester on suspicion of murder on Tuesday and was taken to London.

A second man was arrested this morning in the capital.

Jodie was killed last Friday evening in a park in Romford in London.

“This is a savage, evil attack.”
Detective Chief Inspector, Dave Whellams

Initial enquiries have established that Jodie was with a group of five other teenagers.

Police say the group were aware of two males in the park who left at around 9pm. The pair returned half an hour later and one of the males stabbed Jodie once in the back.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams, who is leading the investigation, said: “This was a savage, evil attack. We’re progressing well with the investigation and continue to ask the public to assist us.

“I ask the public and those in the local area to contact us if they suspect anyone of having any involvement in this terrible incident. If you suspect something may be amiss then you need to let us know.”
