February brings the Chinese New Year and Year of the Pig, with the official new year falling on February 5, although preparations in Nottingham have been well underway since December 2018.

There are several events taking place across the city. From gallery exhibitions, to gala balls, organisers say the Chinese New Year celebrations in Nottingham offer something for everyone.

Extensive planning goes into the celebration of a Chinese New Year, with ‘Little Year’ beginning on December 28 and lasting for eight days.

The Spring Festival and New Year lasts until February 19, with a lantern festival in between that features ancient spiritual traditions.
