Derby County Manager Frank Lampard could be reunited with his former teammate Ashley Cole. The ex Chelsea player is set to return to the English football league after his season at LA Galaxy has come to an end.

Cole, who helped Chelsea win the Premier League in 2010 and the Champions League in 2012, is currently at the top of Derby’s transfer list. Lampard wants more defensive options as his side hunts promotion to the Premier League and hopes Cole could help his side achieve this.

Derby aren’t currently looking at anyone else but have sent Alex Pearce out on loan to Milwall and George Thorne to Luton Town for an undisclosed fee.

Yohan Benalouane has left Leicester on loan to play for rivals Nottingham Forest.

Benalouane is Martin O’Neill’s first signing for Nottingham Forest after becoming the manager yesterday afternoon. The Tunisian defender has moved on an 18-month contract for an undisclosed fee.

Wigan made an offer for Nottingham Forest’s Danny Fox, however the deal was rejected with Ben Brereton leaving and joining Blackburn for a deal worth £7 million.

Leicester City are yet to sign anyone but have seen interest rise for some of their players.

Huddersfield Town and Cardiff City are hoping to complete a deal for Leicester striker Shinji Okazaki as Leicester say goodbye to Vincente Iborra and Fousseni Diabete.

Iborra has joined Villarreal in Spain’s La Liga with Diabete joining Turkish team, Sivasspor.

Notts County have signed Huddersfield goalkeeper Ryan Schofield on a loan deal which will keep him at the club till 2020.

They have also strengthened their back four with the signing of Ben Barclay who has come on loan from Brighton Hove Albion and have also acquired central midfielder Jim O’Brien, who has come from Bradford on a free transfer.

In other news, Nottingham Forest have sold 2 players to Mansfield Town as Jordan Smith and Jorge Grant have both left for undisclosed fees. They have been replaced by Charlton forward Nicky Ajose, who only has 3 goals in 16 appearances this season.
