Mansfield Town host local rivals Notts County tomorrow looking to extend their undefeated run against the Magpies.

Tomorrow sees the first Nottinghamshire derby of the season for the two teams, with Mansfield going into the game undefeated in six matches against their Nottingham rivals. County haven’t beaten David Flitcroft’s side since 2015.

County go into this Saturday’s clash winning just once in their last 9 league games, leaving them languishing in the relegation zone a point from safety. By contrast Mansfield are pushing for promotion, currently in 6th position having only lost one game all season.

“It is a baptism of fire isn’t it, first league game”

– Neal Ardley, County Manager

Speaking to the media ahead of the clash, County manager Neal Ardley knows it will be a tough game, “They’re a very good team, they’ve only lost once this season and probably are one of the stronger teams in the league so we’ve got to make sure we’re up for it.”

“win at all costs mentality.”

David Flitcroft, Mansfield Manager

The teams last met in the league back in march of last season at Meadow Lane. County were ahead for 90 minutes when Stags forward Kane Hemmings broke magpie hearts with an injury time equaliser.

It’s the first time David Flitcroft has welcomed County the One Call Stadium, speaking to the media yesterday the Stags boss said his team would be going into the game with a “win at all costs mentality.”

He added, “Derby football is what the English fans are brought up on. It’s everything that you believe in as a supporter when you watch football.”
