Plans for a new cemetery in Nottingham catering for all faiths and religions could soon be given the go because the existing one is almost full.
The existing Redhill cemetery has catered for the burial needs of Arnold residents for many years but is almost at full capacity.
“the council is expanding plots to all faiths”

Current burial grounds in Nottingham include;
- Northern cemetery
- Southern cemetery
- Wilford Hill
- Church cemetery
Gedling Borough Council leader John Clarke has said; “The expansions aim to see grounds eventually expanded across the whole of Gedling, we aim to expand our plots to all faiths, Muslim plots are being expanded right now.”
The new site would be located 4.3 miles away from Redhill Cemetery, and a driving distance of 12 minutes.
The council has identified a need for burial space within the borough. “The site represents an appropriate and suitable location for the plans to go ahead,” said Councillor Clarke.
If plans were to go ahead work on the grounds will begin immediately. The council’s decision meeting will take place on May 14th.
