Kensington Palace yesterday released a photograph taken by the Duchess of Cambridge of her daughter, Princess Charlotte, ahead of her second birthday today.

The photo was taken back in April at the family’s home, Anmer Hall, in Norfolk.

Kensington Palace hopes that everyone “enjoys this photograph of Princess Charlotte as much as they do”.

It’s expected that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be throwing a birthday party for their daughter, with many Nottingham locals guessing what presents she’ll receive.

The Duchess of Cambridge, a keen photographer since her own childhood, marked her daughter’s first birthday by publishing a set of similar photographs. This partly lead to the Duchess being given a lifetime honorary membership of the Royal Photographic Society.

“thank everyone for the lovely messages”

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge “would like to thank everyone for the lovely messages they have received”.

Princess Charlotte has mostly been kept out the spotlight by her parents, making just a handful of public appearances in her life. Most of these were during the young royals’ visit to Canada in September 2016.

Her last royal engagement was attending a church service on Christmas Day with her family in the village of Bucklebury, Berkshire, where her maternal grandparents live.

In three weeks time the princess will be a bridesmaid for her aunt, Pippa Middleton. Her brother Prince George, who’s third inline to the throne, will be page boy at the wedding.
