Bromley House Library, hidden away on Angel Row in the city centre, is on the hunt for a new library director for one of the few remaining subscription libraries in the country.
The library, founded in 1816, has 1500 members and wants to bring in a full time library director who can help keep it busy and relevant.
‘We don’t want people to think we’re a cosy, quiet little library because we’re so much more than that’, said Geraldine Gray, assistant librarian at Bromley House.
The new director will get a salary of £40,000 a year and will be responsible for management, finance and human resources.
