A Nottingham sweet shop has been nominated for a national award in recognition of its business success in the East Midlands.
The Treat Kitchen has been short-listed for the Citi Microentrepreneurship Award in the growth category.
The award programme is aimed to raise awareness about the importance of microentrepreneurship and supporting the finance and empowerment of independent businesses.
Martin and Jess Barnett founded the Treat Kitchen in 2014 and have now opened other shops across the East Midlands including Leicester and Derby.
They have sold 20 million sweets and the company now employs 42 members of staff.
“It shows the effort our team has put into the business”
Jodie Baker, marketing lead at the Treat Kitchen Nottingham store, said “It’s a great achievement to show how far we’ve come because it’s a national award and we are a Nottingham Independent.
“It shows the effort our team has put into the business,” she added.
They were put forward by the company First Enterprise, who have supported the family-run business from the opening.
