Winter Wonderland returns to Nottingham’s Market Square this weekend for the start of the Christmas build up. Filled with festive fun, food and a brand new ice bar. Situated in the heart of the City centre, the ice rink and Victorian stalls are back.
Nottingham’s Winter Wonderland fills the streets of Old Market Square on Saturday, November 19th to begin the Christmas period.
The Christmas attraction brings the traditional style Victorian market stalls back to the City Centre, with plenty of food and drink to choose from, handcrafted gifts and of course, the famous ice rink for any aspiring Torvill and Deans out there.
As well as the Helter Skelter and Winter bars, there’s a new addition to Winter Wonderland this year, the first ever Ice Bar. Inside it will be -10 degrees celcius and made of ice throughout. Featuring hand-crafted ice sculptures, drinks served in cups made of ice and a cosy coat to keep you warm!
With the festivities beginning tomorrow, CBJ spoke to one of the craft stall owners as he finished his final preparations ahead of the opening.

You will find over 50 attractive Victorian Style cabins selling a wide range of crafts, gifts and food. As always, Long Row features the unique Helter Skelter bar selling mulled wine, spiced cider, classic hot chocolate that you can enjoy under cover away from the cold.
Making a favourite return is the traditional Ice Rink. Surrounding the huge Christmas tree, get involved and have a skate to take a break from your Christmas shopping.

Also new to Winter Wonderland is the bandstand. For the first time this year, Old Market Square will host live music on stage, performed by local bands, with a great view from the Victorian Styled bar in Market Square.
There’s plenty for the kids to do as well, a helter skelter, frozen themed ride, horse carousel and the ‘Balloon Madness’ merry-go-round!

A few of the stalls have opened to shoppers today, including the hog roast bar, gift shops and the merry-go-round. CBJ spoke to a few locals who were soaking up the atmosphere, about what they’re most looking forward to at Winter Wonderland this year.

The festivities are in full swing as a few bars and stalls are already open for business, including the hog roast bar, gift stalls and the Merry-Go-Round. Market Square is definitely beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
