With pancake day fast approaching, get ready to get out your frying pan and perfect your flipping skills.

For many, Pancake day is usually one filled with lumpy batter and pancakes more resembling a Yorkshire pudding than a sweet treat, but this year, Warsaw American Diner has released some tricks of the trade to make sure your pancake day is one to remember.

Sandy N’Guyen Van Mai, a chef in the restaurant explained that the secret to great pancakes is freshness. “Make the pancakes from scratch, because the freshness is the key to making light and fluffy batter”.

Meg Hale from Aubrey’s Traditional Creperie in Nottingham’s Westend Arcade also described how to make a perfect pancake this Shrove Tuesday. ‘The secret is commitment and having the correct ingredients’ she explained. ‘Also make sure you allow the batter to settle before you put it in the hot pan, this make the mixture less bubbly’.

 

Pancake Day 2016 is on Tuesday the 9th of February.
