A Nottingham born fashion designer has been awarded France’s highest accolade in fashion. Sir Paul Smith, who opened his first store in Nottingham in 1970 followed by a fashion show in Paris in 1976, said he was thrilled to receive the Legion d’Honneur at a ceremony in London.
In the world of fashion today, the 69-year-old top designer is well know for his trademark “British style with a sense of humour”. Paul’s collection has hit various catwalk shows from the French capital Paris, London to Milan.
Assistant manager, Christophe Bataeux, at Paul’s flagship store in Nottingham, says it’s an amazing honour.
