The legendary music venue Rock City is celebrating 35 years of music today after opening on the 11th of December in 1980.
In the past three and half decades the venue has welcomed thousands of world famous artists from the likes of David Bowie to Nirvana.
The first band on stage was the Undertones with supporting act of Orange Juice being the first to ever tread the sacred stage.
Mansfield singer-songwriter Georgie performed at the legendary venue last Friday as part of the Nottingham music showcase, Our City.
The 21-year-old said: “I’ve had so many memorable nights at Rock City whether it be playing, having a good time or being inspired watching other’s play.”
This coming week will see Rock City celebrate with varying acts over the coming week from New Model Army to Shed Seven.
Many people have enjoyed seeing different acts from the venue. Darren, from Hucknall remembers Kurt Cobain hurling himself into the crowd and then destroying all the bands kit on stage.
John remembers being at the opening night when the undertones performed and he also remembers seeing Erasure and that Andy Bell was wearing a red leather mask.
