A Nottingham chippy has been awarded third place in the 2016 National Fish and Chip awards.

The Cod’s Scallops, in Bramcote Lane, Wollaton was awarded the accolade at a ceremony at the Lancaster Hotel in London on Wednesday (20th January 2016).

The host Nigel Barden, voice of food and drink on BBC2, awarded shop owner John Molner the prestigious gong.

This is not the fish and chip shop’s first professional achievement, as they won the Best Newcomer Award at the same awards in 2014.

The restaurant offers up to 30 different varieties of fish and shellfish everyday, has five full-time chefs and includes a wet fish counter for those who want something a bit more adventurous.

The winning chippy is in Cheltenham, with the second place prize awarded to a shop in Plymouth.
