Returning for a seventh year the exhibition features postcard size artwork courtesy of artists all over the world. More than 500 people entered their work to be featured during the month-long exhibition.

The popularity of last year’s exhibition has led to double the amount of entries this year with submissions from Australia, Canada and the United States as more are still coming in.

“THE EXHIBITION AIMS TO REACH OUT TO ARTISTS WHO WOULDN’T NORMALLY GET INVOLVED”
VANESSA LONG, GALLERY VOLUNTEER

The cards range from watercolour paintings to bold printed graphics and are displayed around the walls of the gallery.

Many artists submitted more than one postcard  with several entries coming together as a set.

Vanessa Long, who works at the gallery, hopes this exhibition will connect artists worldwide.

“All participating artists will have the opportunity to exchange their postcard with another artists at the end of the exhibition.

We hope that this exchange will help foster new connections and encourage communication among artists from diverse backgrounds and from different parts of the world.”

A panel of Surface Gallery judges will select 3 prize winners. The prizes include a £50 first prize, a Deborah Ballinger gift set as second prize, and a Dark Forge Design printed tote bag as third prize.

This year has also seen the introduction of the People’s Prize, where visitors are given the opportunity to vote for their favourite art.

Votes are posted into the postbox located in the middle of the room.
