This year a Christmas appeal from two charities is coming to Nottingham. Make a wish foundation and the nNG11 food bank are both campaigning to try and put a smile on those who need it most.
Christmas is the time for giving and that is the motto this year for the Make a Wish foundation and the NG11 food bank. Both are doing individual campaigns to help those in need.
Then Make a Wish foundation has kick started its campaign early this year. Since the start of January staff have been trying to fund £90,000 for a trip to Lapland for seriously ill children.
The final wish of the year is hoping to bring a bit of Christmas joy to all the children. From fundraising events and sponsors, the campaign has raised enough to go at the end of December.
” It’s a very, very special time of year”

On the other side of Nottingham in Clifton, the NG11 food bank has been doing its bit to help families who need it.
The food bank opens its kitchens every Tuesday morning to provide food, drink and any helpful advice for families in need.
As well as the friendly volunteers they meet, they make sure that the clients leave with a weekly shop of all the essentials and make sure that it is enough to last for a couple of weeks.

Volunteers say the aim of the appeal will be able to give help to the families who may not be able to put a meal on the table.
Tony, regular volunteer at the food bank, says that it’s important to be aware of those around this festive period.
A foodbank volunteer says the service is vital at Christmas.
For now it looks like Christmas is setting out to be memorable for everyone in Nottingham, proving that nobody is forgotten around this special time of year.
