Nottingham Panthers fans were at fever pitch last night at Old Market Square. They were celebrating the Panthers’ Continental Cup victory.

Nottingham Panthers fans turned out in force for a special celebratory event in Old Market Square. A civic reception was held with a stage show in front of the Council House.

Some fans were keen to get behind the players whilst others turned out for the glimpse of seeing the silverware.

They became the first British side to win a major European ice hockey title when they beat hosts Ritten last month.

The club now hopes the sports recognition can continue to grow throughout the city. The hope is that this will increase attendances at the National Ice Centre.

Their success means the Panthers will compete in the next season’s Champions Hockey League which starts in August.

A group of fans compared head coach Corey Neilson to Nottingham Forest legendary manager Brian Clough, who won back-to-back European Cups with the Reds.
